About the Other department
The “Other” Department encompasses a lot, and we like it that way. So here are some descriptions:
"The Awful Dynne"
You're alone, walking through the dusty, abandoned rooms of an old, neglected house. Darkness envelops you, but as you pass by a shaded window, you see a beam of light seeping around the edges of the shade. Curious, you lift the edge, and squint, nearly blinded, into the bright, shiny dawn of a new day. Shame, fear, pride fall away, and you walk out a nearby door into a world free of music snobbery and censorship, where LFO, Kaja Googoo and Bon Jovi live in harmony on your mp3 player. Don't hide in the darkness; come out into the light with The Awful Dynne, co-hosted by your perennial favorites, Illy Quintano and Julia Barber. Contact: jbarber1 [at] swarthmore.edu
Do you enjoy indie-pop, electro-dance, mash-ups, or any other hyphenated genres of music? What about 80's hits, disney anthems, or Britney Spears? Maybe some celebrity gossip (about Sarah Palin) or offensive youtube recommendations? Of course you do! And so do we! So, tune in to the third semester of Time to Get Obnoxious and let us say all the things you'd rather not say in public. Contact: mcai1 [at] swarthmore.edu
"41st to 52nd"
Tune in and spend some time between 41st and 52nd streets of New York City. Giving you everything from Cabaret and Les Miserables to Spring Awakening and Avenue Q, "41st to 52nd" will allow you a glimpse into the wonderful world of Broadway musicals and will leave you better prepared for those sophisticated cocktail conversations. Contact: Maryanne Tomazic '10, mtomazi1 [at] swarthmore.edu
"Lovefool"
"Lovefool" has but one goal: to help you with your lovelife. Each week will have new theme centered around different kinds of love, illustrated through songs and skits. So call in with a question and/or request on Fridays from 5-6 p.m. Because after all, whether lovebird or lovelorn, we are all fools for love. Love, Maria, Apolline, Kaitlin, Macy and Aurora. “Late Night Sampler”
We know the feeling. Tossing from corner of the bed to laptop and back. Long walks to the laundry room and then a few sets up and down the stairs to reach that critical point of exhaustion—but never sleep. Hakuna Matata. Stay up with us every night as the WSRN staff plays the crucial mix of music that may just make you forget your crippling insomnia and send you smiling off to slumberland.
We’ll add more show descriptions as they come into our office.
Got an interesting idea?
